Helltier Vriska Cosplay Build

Post by wolfkitty42 » Sat May 10, 2025 6:35 pm

Hi everybuddy! I'm working on a cosplay of Vriska's completely normal new outfit. I'm making this thread to share my progress! I want to make more videos documenting my work, and writing down notes while I'm making a cosplay makes that a lot easier. I figure why not make a thread here to share?

This is a WIP of my horns from a while back. They're just tinfoil covered in air dry clay! I'm pretty happy with the proportions. Unfortunately, I think they're just gonna be a mockup... They're slim enough that I feel very nervous about drilling in the screws like I have for previous horns. I'm desperately looking for office post screws in all my local hardware stores right now. I would really like to find a long one if possible, since that seems more stable!

Once I find some, I'm probably going to restart. I'm thinking of either doing a tinfoil or tinfoil coated foam base. I've only done tinfoil before, but I'm not super happy with my current method so I want to continue experimenting. My brother bought a shitton of fursuit foam (not for a fursuit, dont ask) and it's been lying around our house. I'm pretty sure they would let me use some, so I'm considering using some of that and then covering it in thin tinfoil. Usually I see troll horns made with stiff foam bases, but how bad could it possibly be!? XD

I'm also working on recreating Calliope's book as a prop right now. I'll share some of my WIPs of that soon! I plan to use it for Vriska and Callie. It's turning into a really fun art project!

I am struggling a lot with the magnets for the book prop. I tried hot glue first, which worked great for application- But they all popped off after about a day of use. Superglue isn't gluing it to the wood, and it's gluing magnets together! I really hope I don't run out, because that would honestly just be LAME! Does anyone have any advice? Currently, I'm trying this.
1. Hot glue magnet to one side
2. Place second magnet on top once glue is dry
3. Brush a light layer of long-lasting long drying superglue on the other side of the box
4. Put a dot of hot glue on the top of the magnet stack. It should be very small, if it's too much it will overflow! I will include pictures of the safe amount once I figure out a method that works.
5. Shut the box for about a minute or two while you wait for the hot glue to dry and harden
6. Wait overnight for your glue to dry

The whole 24 hour dry time kiiiiinda sucks... It's gonna be really time consuming if this is really the only thing that is durable and doable. I have to do eight magnets this way! Bluh. If anyone has tried something like this before please let me know! I feel like there must be a better solution that I'm just not noticing.
