Darkness. It's cold. Comforting. It pulls you in, drags you down into it's welcoming embrace. You're ready to give yourself to it, to become one with it - to let it pull you closer than anything before. Then it begins.

You're not sure where you are. You're not even sure what you are. First comes the noise - an ever increasing ringing in your ear, drilling straight through your skull and into your brain as it sinks it's hooks into your very being, and pulls you back into reality.

Your body aches. Every fiber of your being, every strand of muscle cries out as one, making it's presence terribly aware to you as the dull agony radiates through your nerves. You feel weak, as if even moving a finger would be a Herculean task, every shift making your stomach churn, every breath searing through your lungs. Your clothing feels freezing against your skin, soaked in sweat and blood; the binding around your wrist cuts into your skin sharp; the metal chair is cold and rough, stinging you straight through your outfit.

Wait, chair?
>Open your eyes.

Your eyes desperate for focus, the sudden light amplifies your migrane tenfold, and you're pretty sure one of your eyelids is swollen as skin pushes into skin. Yes, it sure seems like you're sitting on a chair, hands tied behind your back, which is the only thing that prevents you from falling forward at the moment, as the familiar sight of your legs welcome you. Trying to get your bearings, something gradually starts to seep through the high-pitched ringing in your ear. It seems like a low rumbling at first, but then as it gets clearer it sounds more and more like... talking. Like a conversation between at least two people. And considering your current situation, you doubt they are your friends - looks like you've gotten yourself into quite the situation, pal.

You try to focus, weeding out the noise from the talking. It sounds like there are two people about in front of you. Once you feel strong enough to lift your head, you indeed see two figures.

"...seless. Co... ...ould stop was... ...irynth shouldn't be fa..."

You can only catch bits and pieces from whatever the one in the blue jacket was explaining. They turn towards you for a prolonged moment, before making their way out of the room you're in - shutting what sounds like a large steel door behind them with a resounding CLANG, which does not help against the dull, throbbing pain inside your brain at the moment. Taking a moment to get yourself together, you can finally take notes of your surroundings.

Alright. You're alone now, for better or worse. You've been in worse situations before.

Oh, who are you kidding. This is the worst, and you honestly doubt you're going to make it. At least your legs are free, though there aren't much around - except for you and your seat.

This is something that might just work. On the far end of the room, you can see the door that is the way out of this place. You just need to make it that far and you're golden. The chair doesn't feel so bad - something that'd belong to some old-ass shitty school. It's terrible, but fairly light. You'll just shift your weight forward, raise yourself by your legs, and make your way to the door, one step at a time...

Wriggle around until you detach yourself from the chair maybe?

Huh? You can just stand up fine from the bench if you want to leave.

With a loud exhale, you let the smoke trapped in your breath free. The sun is setting, covering everything in crimson - like a beatuiful swansong, desperate to hold on as long as it can before it finally disappears for the day, so it may rise again tomorrow.

You've got a good lead. Well, it's not much, but considering the circumstances it's only a matter of time until everyone swarms it like rats, tearing each other apart for the prize. But you're ahead - amongst the first, and it's not your first rodeo, so you're pretty sure you can be ahead of the curve and finish everything before the situation blows out. Even if it's a hoax, it doesn't hurt to check it out.

Right, the lead: WT is planning for something big. Well, it' wouldn't be the first time they'd shakae up the life in the city - they're the most powerful corporation around after all, with the tightest grip around the place, located in their gated enclave to the north. Rumors say they're mere puppets though, with the most influental people living even beyond those walls in luxurious apartments, but you don't pay heed to such hearsay. The info apparently came from someone working on the project, who then mysteriously disappeared. Not officially of course - even they couldn't afford such a mistake. But you figure it wouldn't hurt finding him regardless.

And you know just the person who can help you with that. People call him The Patkano - the local crime lord, as much organized crime is allowed to operate within the city. The laws of WT are fairly lax in some regard - and in other, they're willing to turn a blind eye so that his gang can clean up the less desirable from the streets. And boy, there are a lot of them. He should be near, in the local watering hole - well, the only one in town worth anything, which is not saying much. In fact,

"KEEP MOVING, CITIZEN. LOITERING WILL BE FINED."

The speakers of the seccam eyeing you cut your thought in half.

No need to be so dramatic. And it's right - you should get moving. The place shouldn't be further than a five minutes walk - but you have a feeling that if you want to do anything else before, now's the time. You think you're ready?
