Mr. Tambourine Man is great
http://odditycollector.com/mtm/?s=6
It seems to be less talked about than a lot of "Post Act 7" kind of stories, maybe that has to do with it being off of MSPFA? Anyway read it.

Best characterization of John I've seen in ages. Loved every single panel.
Re: Mr. Tambourine Man is great
Absolutely my favorite 'Post Act 7' story. I check it every day. John is a good boy and I love him, he just wants to help his friends.Darth_Energon wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:44 pmhttp://odditycollector.com/mtm/?s=6

Re: Mr. Tambourine Man is great
mr tambourine man doesn't seem to be going anywhere, but in an odd way that's what a like about it, because it's not like john's really going anywhere either. we just get to follow along with him trying to cope about being around people that technically aren't the people he knows as they've all left him behind. it's all really great, especially from john's point of view, and gives a great sense of 'reality' to the comic where reality means nothing, and john's reality is that he's just stuck here, forever, seemingly unable to do anything meaningful except exist (which has lost all meaning anyway since the real 'plot' and 'canon' has left him behind.) it presents a really interesting idea
i keep wondering why he doesn't just go back to earth, way before the reckoning happens, to try and live a normal life. he wouldn't age or anything but maybe he could go do things he couldn't before, like watch con air on opening night, or go and meet and talk to cage or other celebrities. he's literally got near limitless potential in a dead world

I don't understand why this doesn't get more reddit/discord/etc attention. It is so, so good.
To me it's the "real" epilogue--even more than Act Omega, which I also love.
It's a good marriage of act six Feelings--done RIGHT and true to character--about characters we actually care about, and early Homestuck game mechanics (what happens after The End, after all?).

Spoiler
Show
Poor, sweet, baby, innocent, dear, precious, sweet Jade, losing both the guy she didn't know was her dad and the guy she didn't know was her brother, on the same day, to the same beloved family devilbeast she'll eventually merge with so that she is retroactively the one who murdered her own entire family, as well as the entire human species?
What kind of bad person would do such a terrible thing to dear, sweet, innocent, baby, sweet, beautiful, dear, precious, sweet, sweet, dear, sweet...

Re: Mr. Tambourine Man is great
I've always been pretty interested in Mr. Tambourine Man, but before today I never really sat down and read it. Now I have, though, and I'm glad I did, because it was great. Probably the best Homestuck continuation (? I guess. It's kind of like a pre-end continuation.) I've read, except that isn't really saying much because I haven't read any other continuations.
I especially like how it dabbles in, for the lack of a better term, puzzle bullshit. I haven't really seen a lot of Homestuck fancontent that tries to do that, they mostly just stick to like, relationship stuff, and character-building. Though also I haven't LOOKED for a lot of Homestuck fancontent, so maybe I only have myself to fault there.
Anyway, I love how the little John-based onomatopoeias are flipped around, signifying how his chirality is all flipped or whatever. Like how he's barred from entering the door. Argh, now I'm not sure I get it!!

Yo am I supposed to be able to click past the retcon screen because I totally can. Probably right? But is there something I'm supposed to solve or like, how is this supposed to be read from this split screen

Re: Mr. Tambourine Man is great
I'm mostly struggling with the password screens and failing to take the hints given. I know that the text in the bar are quotes, but I don't know what to do with them???? Maybe I'll just Inspect Element. Is that cheating?

Re: Mr. Tambourine Man is great
I'm not actually sure if inspect element would do anything. Or at least I think I've tried to check things that way and I found nothing. Buuuut anyway, you're actually just supposed to hit the enter button without typing anything in. I don't really understand it either, but apparently that's it. The text in the box is just like, what John is thinking, or whatever.

Re: Mr. Tambourine Man is great
I... don't think adding one to the page you're on is all that helpful. Or at least it wasn't very good for the first password instance, in which it skipped over a page that had "retcon" at the end of the URL. Also wow, looking back at the password page, it is... really finnicky. Sometimes it doesn't even have the text sometime, so it doesn't work.
