HERDING CATS IS A BLESSING OK... i havent read it in forever and id really like to reread it at some point but. pitch catfish good.

The writer I guess rebooted it? Hasn't updated in a few months but after Epilogue stuff I guess they decided to fix some pairing stuff and retool the interactions. Less smutty, more character focused. I'd say check it out because it lays early groundwork for pitch FefKan, pale EriGam, AND pale Teradia a lot better than the original did and also implies Hearts Boxcars is in the narrative driver's meta seat which makes a lot of sense in hindsight.

To get all 12 trolls into the perfect shipping grid of every quadrant fulfilled there's some crazy rarepairs to make it work!

I personally don't think blackrom is the same thing as straight-up hatred. Terezi gives a good summary of it in the epilogues. Alternian society is particularly brutal so of course it's culturally pushed in that direction but I believe the natural way trolls would experience it is well within Equius's capabilities.

plus the idea that this prim and proper leader of a dead nation falling in love with a dorky jester who has like 60% of an idea of what he's doing at any point who only wants to make her laugh makes my heart melt

Most people ship it fully red or fully pitch, but I like to see them as in a stable vaccilating relationship. Stable in the sense that they've been together and vaccilating for so long that they found a dynamic between the two of them that works both ways, and they don't need an auspistice to balance them back into pitch territory. Love and hate meet halfway through the quadrants, in a way.

that's why I added the "too tangled up in himself" part-- I think he'd struggle with it in the sense that his partner might end up having issues with him because of the horseboy getting wrapped up either in his own sexuality or in the complications of his psychology.

It seems SO obvious to me, but there's like NOTHING for it! It's a polyship where every single member has expressed actual real canonical attraction to each other, the constituent ships are all still relatively popular, where's all the good poly shit?

Now. Ones that I'm not at ALL surprised are rarepairs would be Rose <3< Vriska and Roxy <3 Latula. Gamer girls gotta stick together.

Dirkkri is my biggest rarepair in that I think it actually should become canon. I love the parallels to Davekat and how they're both insufferable boys!

My OTP is Roxygen, which is surprisingly rare considering that it actually happens. I don't consider it a "rarepair"(TM)(C)(R) though.

I'll ship Nepeta with the whole cast. Same with Sollux. Any ship with Nepeta and Sollux instantly has my attention.
