My boyfriend is reading Homestuck right now and just finished Act 2, and said he 'really liked the dude wanting to be a mayor'. Its so cute and I 100% agree.

I LOVE THE MAYOR
Though I would like to say I don't like the way the fandom treat him because they infantilize him just for the fact he doesn't speak, he looks cute and he does a funky dance
He's a republican revolutionary world leader who made thousands desert from war to join him looking for peace, survived dying twice (how??) and got to successfully lead an entire society of carapacians on Earth C
WV is good, but he is no baby
he's a WAR VETERAN

I have so many goddamn feelings about the Wayward Vagabond you have no fucking clue.
You wanna know when I had my breath taken away by this comic? When I felt so overwhelmed with awe and joy and a sense of triumph and amazement and FUCK YEAH-itude that I had to rewatch the flash multiple times?
It was this fucking wonderful animation, right here.
This was quite possibly one of the best and most fucking EPIC flashes I had ever seen up to that point, and because I was following the comic since 2009 I was there when it fuckin DROPPED. All of these characters that I had understood as minor constructs who had mysterious pasts just blew my fucking mind because holy SHIT, these kooky chess people can be fucking BADASS! Not just the ones that come from the Midnight Crew, but these cute little exiles who do goofy things and have sweet little goals of being part of civil service can actually just. Fuckin.
It was the moment that made me conceive of Homestuck's overarching theme as "screw destiny." WV was just a silly little pawn in the middle of the battlefield just living a normal life that was given to him, but at every turn the world around him conspires to make life difficult for him and it compounds with the suffering of others that he sees over his hill, fighting for a war that ultimately means nothing. I had so many theories about how Derse and Prospit worked in the game, I was so fucking JAZZED to learn more about the game and see what happens and watch these characters complete their tasks and overcome obstacles and become closer friends and kick Jack Noir's ass and GAH I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

In this house we refer to his Mayoralship by his full title, Wayward Vagabond, or any other funny combinations of words that start with W and V you can come up with I don't know.
Every time he's just referred to as the mayor I die a little inside.

It's easy to feel that way, especially since a lot of the time when I was on Tumblr if I wanted to talk about the Wayward Vagabond with someone they wouldn't know what I was talking about, and it made it super obvious that the person I was speaking to hadn't actually read Homestuck in its entirety and likely skipped to Act 5, which drives me up the wall very often. But yeah, I agree that his name is WV and it would be nice not to refer to him as just The Mayor.

VFFN, you are a kindhearted soul, a validating presence in this wasteland of WV content.
A Wastelandic Vindicator, if you will.

I'm very disappointed the exiles have their roles reduced so much, I found their antics extremely enjoyable. WV especially, because even though he's there in Act 6 he does absolutely nothing.

rubs gets it, these last few posters get it, WV is no baby. WV is an agent of
freedom and
democracy who amassed and led a revolutionary army. The way he got neutered as the story progressed is downright criminal.
