i'm INSANE, over the new update! DUDE! I really liked the art and I thought the scenes were all pretty good. does anyone have predictions 4 the next few updates/the big flash that keeps getting hyped up? especially predictions about what song will be used... omg also if you have a favorite panel pls share mine was this one of rose I just thought it looked really sick

honestly last upd8 was better overall but this 1 was also RLLY good? ignoring the fact jade got lobotomy sleepytime bcuz HELLO GAVAGECUNCTATION. HIIIII. WUTS UP.
they seem very cool. and also maybe shippable with vrissy. but also like i get Rancid vibes from that ship. toxic yuri.... real....

The last upd8 was neat. The team posted https://x.com/homestuck/status/1877522394178335226 which is interesting... It looks like it's 50% ticking down to Vriska reaching Helltier. Interestingly, the shoes under the bomb don't seem to match any previous characters. I wonder if these are hinting at a POV switch, where we will spend more time with gavageCunctation on Deltritus in Act 2? Who knows!

I also have a theory that when Vriska reaches helltier, she may emerge from the Plot Point on Deltritus. I think it could be really interesting!

AUUUGH!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! OMG okay so, [S] 8r8k was AWESOME. Spoilers ahead. DUDE.
I thought overall, it was a VERY good flash for the team's first long flash! Technically they've done shorter ones and interactive ones before, but this is the longest animated sequence. I have to wonder what the budget for it was.... To my knowledge, animated shorts around this length tend to cost around 10-15000 dollars to produce, which lines up with the profits of the Karkat plush. The flash clearly had a lot of hard work going into it- I honestly think the team did a really good job at just... Making it happen!
I think there's definitely still room for improvement on the pacing, but I think that's something they'll be able to clear up in the future. I really liked how creative they got with the classpect powers in this flash! It was also SERIOUSLY COOL to see Vriska finally leave hell and start disrupting everything. I think it makes sense if Jane dies here. Considering that the Omega kids need to start playing SBURB, I think it sort of makes sense to get the war plot on Candy at least semi-resolved.
Anyone else have thoughts about 8r8k or what they think will come next?

I think the new flash is a precedent of Homestuck Beyond Canon and the attitude around post canon content as a whole. It shows they can really make something f they arent under the hands of corperate meddling which isnt something that things like Hiveswap or Homestuck^2 could really say beforehand

I'm not entirely sure that corporate meddling has been the issue with the quality of postcanon? I only got into Homestuck within the last year or two, so there's probably context that I'm missing. I guess it depends. What's your definition of corporate meddling? Personally, I see it as when a piece of media is altered to make it more profitable or advertiser friendly.

Well. Its less "cooperate meddling" and more just the freedom for these people to do what they want. For instance, take Yiffany for example. Multiple people in the beyond canon and HS^2 team objected or disliked the name of the character, but it was considered a "non-negotiable" from Andrew. The HS^2 team in general also had the promise and backing of Viz somewhat which was fleeting cos Viz didn't do much except just make the books. The Beyond Canon team don't have these restrictions, as the they dont have to abide by the outline given to them, and have the freedom to do whatever they want independent of Viz or WhatPumkin
