The more grungey/dubstep songs really get me grooving, like the chiptune parts of Narrative Command and SPLIT REALITY and Light Burns Out (Gestalt)

I agree with what you guys are saying about everything but also I feel like Adios, Lost Boys and Four Kids (And a Game They Played Together) deserve some attention cause they're good.

From how it mentions a lot of time between the singer and his friends, and how when they meet up again his friends still trust him to pull through and do the right thing, I think its supposed to be John.

Narrative Control is probably my favorite in the album. Dirk's part (?) hits HARD on some Contra and Castlevania similarities, which are two series I love to death.
Not Canon in F Major sounds like a cheesy anime opening, which I enjoy.
Now I'm a Villain and Crystal Hung in Firmament's Descent are just really good in general.
Do wish the songs had their own track art, as has been the standard for the HS albums. But at least music got put out.

yeah, i also thought of john at first, but this part:
but i’m haunted by
all of these memories
that i have of four kids
and the game they played together
doesnt makes sense then, cause if so it woulndt be saying 'they', no? it feels more like the reader (us, not the other reader) getting back into homestuck.

Me too! The individual track art is almost as important as the songs themselves for me. Still love the music though!
I've also interpreted it as the reader getting back into HS, mostly based off of those lines.

It makes sense to me. He's saying there were four kids and they played a game together. But they're all adults now, no longer kids. Its like separating your young self from your current self.

I wonder if they are using them as foreshadowing in some ways. Some of the songs and lyrics seems to imply something.

Oh it HAS to be foreshadowing. It may even be an outline for the rest of homestuck^2. i doubt it is that far reaching, but who knows given how intricate and multimedia the storytelling is.

The question is, who "The leaving" is about? Some people say it's Dirk or Dave, but Striders doesn't have black lips. Some people say Rose, but it would be strange because the voice belongs to a male. I was thinking of Candy Karkat, for he left Dave to start the rebellion. And those words about somebody closing the school could be tied to some news about a new form of troll oppression, idk.
What are your thoughts on this song?

My favorite from the album, so far, is Now I'm a Villain. Love the dark vibes, kinda reminds me of [S] Flip.

I'm pretty sure it's about everyone to varying degrees.
It can be about anyone who played SBURB because they have to leave their planet. The sparks that fly are earthbound, begone now, it's not your fault but the leaving is the same - basically applies to all SBURB players (meteors inbound, the meteors would have come regardless because of time shenanigans but by playing the game you started the timer. SO it's "not your fault" the meteors are coming but it still is, kinda like how it's not Vriska's fault Bec Noir exists, but also it is.)
The more specific lines just go over a bunch of different characters without narrowing down on anyone in particular. It's also obviously referencing everyone leaving the Meat and Candy earths to continue the Beyond Canon story line.
