PHYLOGENY CHART.png

Evolution has progressed at a slow and steady pace. Something about the atmosphere above, unknown to the sea-dwelling creatures below, is making the planet begin to heat up, causing algal and plankton blooms in the water -- an abundant food source for all, raining down on the sea floor in greenish curtains. A veritable population explosion! But will the planet be able to handle all of this new life, or will an extinction event drive some creatures out of business?

Remember that you are free to branch off from any available evolution on the attached phylogenic chart, not just the latest evolution!

Isn't the one with the thicker suckers an evolution of the second one tho? In the chart is linked to the first one. Oh and also in its description it says "further develop its suckers", which kind of implies they were there before? And they are not present on the first one.

They do not have a defined reproductive method until someone decides to define it.

due to a surge of slower but more powerful Wawe capable of breaking through tougher carapaces, wider Scut have become more obsolete, and Scut with longer, more spindly legs have shown up more and more on the water floor. They are faster, but can now be more easily pushed over and incapacitated.

Due to their easiness to be pushed over, some scuts have developed little suction pads on each of their extremities that allows them to resists some of the attacks from the wawe. This makes them slower, tho not as slow before.

Due to the increase in plankton, krawl have developed feelers that help it immobilize its new prey for easy eating.

Due to an increase in predators and competition, the krawl have developed a small hole on the front of their bodies that spew out digestive enzymes, harming creatures that attempt to eat it or eat its food.

Due to an increase in asses needing kicking, some Krawl have developed small, hard spike-like protrudences at the end of their feelers. As an added bonus, smart Krawl can swing these around and let the weight fling them off, like a sorta slug-like Thor. The downside being, the weight makes it harder to swim.

A species of Krawl has developed a method of horizontal gene transfer (HGT), that allows it to essentially steal genes from other closely related Krawl species, and pass those genes off to its own offspring. In order to do so, it must consume a piece of the other Krawl. These new Krawl appear to be hunting other Krawl species using their hard spiky feelers.

So far, all of these new HGT Krawl have both the spiked feelers of their direct ancestors, and the high speed sucker-paddles of their cousins.

Some Scuttle with suction pads seem to develop one spike on each of their long legs, It only deters some attacks of the wawe since they're not 100% guaranteed to be effective, but every little bit helps.

i'm aware the mario 64 scuttlebug was a joke but TOO BAD

Some Scuts have evolved foul-tasting poison glands to deter predators. They also have a vibrantly-patterned shell (colored bright red and yellow) in order to serve as a warning sign before the first bite is even taken.
