You're actually doing okay in that regard.

You do. It's warm to the touch, and feels at once both soft and hard, an inscription of two natures. There is firm resistance, but the feeling that if you dug in and pushed, your fingers would simply sink right in. You give it a try, and that does not happen, but you can't help but get the feeling that there is more to this than meets the eye.

Aye.

You grab the handles, finding just enough room to bring both your arms to your sides and get a good grip on them. You curl your knuckles inwards on them and pull, and they offer about as much resistance as you would imagine, slowly creaking through grooves and latches on the wall. There's a click, and a loud hiss, and they seem to release, letting you pull your hands all the way inward, while the stone beneath you rises up several centimeters to hold your feet in place.

Then, it all starts to shift.

Hands by your side, you can see clearly through the eyes of this titanic stonework, and you can swear you can feel how it feels as it raises an arm up to meet your own. Searing, rippling, roaring pain surges through your veins like liquid fire... but it's nothing you haven't handled before. You pull one handle up, yanking on it as hard as you can, and the statue's arm rises in kind, ripping through the hallways and stairs, destroying dilapidated wood and stone, disemboweling its prison with massive fingers large enough to stand against an army.

This is devilry at work. You try to let go, and the handles go rigid, the stone retracting from your feet.

This is devilry. Your body hurts and aches but it's so familiar to you that you pay it no mind.

This is devilry. You made the statue move. If they haven't excommunicated you yet, they surely will when you accidentally cause the mountain range to collapse.

You hurt. You ache. Your wound has opened itself back up at the insistence of the statue and is weeping across your bandages. You've already begun tearing apart the place, by accident. You just want this day to end. You just want to go back to sleep and wake up at home ready to go to the capitol and become a Knightfather-in-training. You just wish this was a dream.

You wish. You wish and you pray and you slam your eyes shut and when you open them up, nothing has changed.

First things first. No time to break down -- you remove bandages from other parts of your body, wrapping them back around and over to the recently opened wound. You're running out of medicine, but you slather it on nonetheless. It's soothing, but only physically. Emotionally, you're distraught.

It boils over. It boils over fast.

You simply sit back and shuffle yourself into the corner, devolving into an unsightly mess of sobs and chokes. You gasp for air, and continue to sob your worries away until the snot runs down your face and you develop a throbbing ache in your forehead. You try to let yourself fall asleep, but the grinding sounds of the gigantic statue and your own distress prevent that.

Everything is ruined. You don't know what to do. The gigantic statue stands perfectly still, as if taunting you.

Although you are not driven by revenge, could the knightfather even pose a threat to you? You are safe here, safe within devilry. Find comfort in this.
