Re: obligatory marble hornets thread
I recommend you look for a Marble Hornets compendium or compilation of some kind, or at least find a way to read the twitter updates and watch concurrent totheark videos alongside the official Marble Hornets channel. That's how I'd do it if I wanted to re-experience Marble Hornets to the best of my ability from an archival position.

Re: obligatory marble hornets thread
fuck this guy, honestly. building an entire theory around main characters faking their mental illness in a show that is entirely a metaphor for living with mental illness is a really fucking shitty thing to do to both creators and fans
For the FULL EXPERIENCE i recommend watching this specific playlist because it has all of totheark inserted in the proper places as well as the one or two unlisted videos. Alongside this, I recommend scrolling down to the very bottom of the old Marble Hornets twitter (which has kinda been hijacked for a new spiritual successor series the creator is making, so ignore the spooky modern tweets) and following along there. He inserts a tweet for every new episode and most totheark responses, so it's pretty easy to keep track of where you are. You can kinda use the twitter as a timeline for the correct order to watch things, since it's the closest to an official update log that Marble Hornets ever got
Also, you're in for a treat. I hope you enjoy it! Season 2 and 3 are some of the best things I've ever seen and are so worth sticking through the kinda goofy beginning
Perfection.

Woah, what???? When was this, I have seriously never encountered this. his entire (wildly celebrated at the time, i might add) four hour long MARBLE HORNETS EXPLAINED! theory hinges on four central points:calamityCons wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 11:07 pmWoah, what???? When was this, I have seriously never encountered this. What in the hell.
Spoiler
Show
1. Brian's entire arc is, despite never being directly addressed, based on getting revenge against Tim
This he actually kinda backs up pretty well and he put an impressive amount of work into, and I think he's got it pretty downpat. It's actually kinda incredible how much information he was able to squeeze out of the very vague writing around Brian's character
2. Totheark is Seth, the cameraman who brought his dog
There are a lot of issues with this as a whole (namely being that even the creators have said they never picked a character that totheark actually was)
The last two are the kicker
3. Marble Hornets is, as a whole, a religious analogy and not a mental health analogy
4. For the entirety of Marble Hornets, Tim is faking being ill and is actually fully conscious in his masked state
For a series that Night Mind apparently loves so much, this is a spit in the face to the immense amount of work that the creators (Tim Sutton especially) put into writing such a complex and accurate depiction of mental and physical health. MH stands as one of the few series I have ever seen to properly write a struggle of this kind and totally stick the landing, and Night Mind completely glosses over this monumental achievement of the series in favour of OOOO SPOOKY THEORY WHAT IF THE VICTIM WAS THE VILLAIN THE WHOLE TIME???
it's fucking stupid and it makes me irrationally angry that Night Mind's MH Explained videos are pretty much the only example of a proper analysis of MH that exists outside of niche unfiction posts

It was one theory amongst his analysis and he encourages watchers to come to their own conclusions and give the series a proper look on their own.MorganMustDie wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 11:50 pmhis entire (wildly celebrated at the time, i might add) four hour long MARBLE HORNETS EXPLAINED! theory hinges on four central points:calamityCons wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 11:07 pmWoah, what???? I hope you have something to back that up, aside from an "I heard."

Re: obligatory marble hornets thread
I actually went through and watched it again very recently as part of a slenderverse binge I was doing, and any instances of this are actually laughably see-through. Even from part one, he is consistently blowing his own horn and calling his own theories "explanations," and rather than providing counterarguments for alternative explanations (such as Sarah being totheark or Marble Hornets being about mental health) he simply mentions them, calls them "unlikely" without analysing them, and intentionally leaves out key parts of these alternative theories such as the creator's own comments about the seriesBrobyDDark wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 4:10 amIt was one theory amongst his analysis and he encourages watchers to come to their own conclusions and give the series a proper look on their own.

Bumpity Bump
Perhaps transphobic is the wrong word, but most certainly not a very squeaky clean guy
I don't like Night Mind very much

That’s fair. The situation with Nyx is pretty complex but I can respect that you’ve been rubbed the wrong way with Night Mind. Let’s get back to Marble Hornets.

What are y'all's favourite totheark vids?
Quadrant is forever my top just because the editing is so layered and intricate and it seems like they've really searched far and wide to find weird sound and video clips to build the perfect penultimate spooks vid
Null is a close second I think
